PERFORMANCE EXCELLENCE MASTERY
LIVING UP TO ONE’S FULL POTENTIAL
About us
James Dabbs has been on the path of exploring excellence through performance for most of his life. A sportsman growing up, James played and competed at every sport he was able to. James’ biggest passion was football, which saw him play professionally. James was always fascinated in exploring the realms of elite performance and used physical fitness as an edge to achieve and excel in his sporting ambitions. James Dabbs is currently completing his MSc in strength and conditioning and owns his own fitness business based in London- Dabbs Fitness, where he helps clients have greater performance for life. This typically is in the form of helping corporate clients move better, lose weight, and get fitter and stronger. He also trains some athletes, with specific performance goals targeted towards their individual sporting needs.
James passionately believes everyone can achieve excellence through physical training and improving their health and fitness. There is plenty of evidence showing how important physical training is for both mental, and physical health, as well as in the prevention of many diseases.
The Greeks also believed in the importance of athletics, with a famous quote from Socrates perhaps summing this up-
“It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable”
The Greeks, of course, founded the Olympics, they were perhaps among the pioneers of modern-day athletics. They had innovative training techniques and were also great warriors, particularly the Spartans. They also believed in balance, prioritising not just sport, but literature, art, and good lifestyle habits such as eating and drinking well with friends.
The word ‘ARETE’ meaning excellence of any kind, wasn’t reserved only for sports. It was said to encompass the mind, body, and soul.
This holistic approach complements James’ personal philosophy on balance in life. Having over trained in the past, James’ experience has taught him that balance, and moderation, as well as being mentally content through social activities, is perhaps one of the keys to both sporting, and life success.
